Kalungu District Local Government has commissioned a newly refurbished District Council Hall and a newly constructed five-stance VIP latrine at the District Headquarters, marking another step towards improving the working environment and strengthening local governance.

The improvements, commissioned on 16 July 2026, included the installation of a modern gypsum ceiling, public address and sound system, air conditioning units, modern lighting and other essential accessories at an estimated cost of UGX 139 million. The works were undertaken by RB Mubiru Contractors.

The commissioning was officiated by District Speaker Mr. Mugisha John Vianney, representing the District Executive Committee, and was attended by Principal Assistant Secretary Mr. Matovu Francis, representing the Chief Administrative Officer's Office; Deputy RDC Hajji Noor Njuki; District Engineer Mr. Marleek Ssebugwawo; political and technical leaders; and representatives of the contractor.

As part of the commissioning process, the newly installed air conditioning, lighting and public address systems were tested under the guidance of the District Engineer and confirmed to be fully functional.

The District Speaker commended Government for investing in the facility, noting that the improvements had enhanced the beauty, dignity and corporate image of Kalungu District. He urged leaders and staff to protect the facilities and equipment as public assets.

District officials also appreciated the contractor for delivering quality work and emphasised proper use, maintenance and accountability for the newly installed facilities.

The project is expected to provide a more conducive and professional environment for Council meetings, official engagements and other activities central to effective governance and service delivery in Kalungu District.
